Product placement

Product placement is another survival way for media industry. Recently Taiwan’s National Communications Commission would like to loosen the restriction of product placement in news report and political TV programme. I think journalism must be just and fair to balance with someone in power. If government loosen the restriction, journalist will be control by businessman and power. The public will wonder what news is true or fake, as a result people don’t believe journalism any more. On the other hand, it would be harshly hurt the journalist who insists enthusiasm on their job. NCC should integrate the useful resource to help media survival, reform all media environment. Do not let it getting worse.

    I don`t really understand what you mean by saying that product placement is another survival way for the media industry, but product placement in “western” television is quite common and although it is forbidden in the public television you always see a brands in the background.
    From my point of view there is one company who became an expert in product placement; and I am talking about Apple. The next time you see a film, just pay attention whenever you see a computer. IF there is an Apple, it will always be used by the “good” people in the film, never the “bad” ones. They always have different brands. Furthermore, they also seem to influence the color of all the computer shown in a film because as soon an Apple computer is presented in a film, every other computer will be a black one.
    If you start to observe this you will be amused and probably shocked if you see in how many films you see an Apple computer.
